The Covergirl Katy Kat blue mascara is part of the new Covergirl Katy Kat range. The range includes waterproof and non waterproof mascaras along with eleven shades of matte lipsticks. I had a bit of a thing for blue mascara during my early teenage years (who didn’t?!) and this new Katy Perry range convinced me to give it another go!
The Covergirl Katy Kat Eye Mascara in ‘Perry Blue’ is a very vibrant blue shade with a typical helix shaped non-flexible mascara wand. The sleek and simple black and white packaging is quite eye catching and the top of the wand is easy to hold and manipulate. It is said to create “full, lush and voluminous lashes that won’t smear or smudge”.
Blue mascara is said to work well with grey, brown or light green coloured eyes. I have green eyes so I was keen to see if it would make them ‘pop’, but let’s be honest, I was trying this out for the throw backs. The formula is nice, it drys quickly and does give a lifting and volumising effect. It definitely lives up to its promise of not smearing or smudging. It lasts all day without any kind of movement or flaking, I hate flaking! At the end of the day it comes off easily with my usual face wash or a bit of micellar water.
As for the blue colour, I’m not sure if it really compliments my green eyes in a special way but I like the way it’s a little something different. It isn’t a real blinding bright blue, however I think it’s a cool, subtle way to add in some colour to your makeup.
The Katy Kat Covergirl range is currently available at all usual Covergirl stockists. I purchased mine from The Warehouse where it retails at $23.99 in store and online.
I did think this product could of been one of those one time use novelty type things, but I really like the blue shade and have been using it pretty regularly.
What do you think of blue mascara? Is it going to make a come back or should it stay in the 90’s??
