Essence Cosmetics is a super cute and affordable makeup brand from Europe which is currently stocked in New Zealand by Farmers. The range is bright, colourful and fun, as well as being completely cruelty free. Recently I’ve been testing out a few of their products, a mascara, concealer and mini makeup sponges, and here’s what I think!
This volumizing mascara has a “cobra brush” which is a twisted wand that combs through each lash to give you a really nice lift from the base of your lashes. It only takes a few swipes to have every lash coated and it does instantly give you a nice volumized lift, although it doesn’t make my lashes as thick as some other volume mascaras I’ve tried. I like how the formula isn’t super wet which means you don’t end up with it all over your face if you blink a few times right after application. I found that it transferred a little under my eyes when I hadn’t used a setting powder under my eyes on my concealer, but that’s an easy fix especially when it works well and it’s only just over $7.
The Stay All Day Concealer has a nice fluid consistency which makes it very easy to blend, however the lightness of it means that it can be used to achieve medium but not full coverage. It works really nicely on top of my The Balm Tinted Moisturiser for areas where I just need a little more covered up. The concealer also does nicely under the eyes and definitely does stay in place. I found it quite similar to the Collection Cosmetics Lasting Perfection Concealer (they both claim to last for 16 hours) but just a little less heavy. The concealer has a scent which to me smells a little like a low SPF sunblock, it’s not too strong or off putting though. For around $5 this concealer is a total steal if your looking for something to give you a bit more coverage for a day to day look.
Let’s be honest, I picked these up because they are just so mini and cute! I’ve been wanting to try out smaller beauty sponges for ages as I am a Beauty Blender fanatic but didn’t want to fork out for an actual mini Beauty Blender because they aren’t cheap and I didn’t know if I’d use one much. These Summer Fun Mini Make-up Sponges by Essence were a perfect solution. The sponges are quite solid while still having just the right amount of bounce and they are definitely handy at getting into small areas and corners of the face like right under your nose or in the inner eye. I also have found that they are easier to use than my usual larger beauty sponge to dab a bit of extra concealer on a tricky area (I often do this when I accidentally get mascara right up under my eye). Because these sponges are part of the Summer Fun range I think they might be limited edition. I got the last ones at my local store so make sure you grab some if you spot them!
I have really liked trying out these three products and I now really want to try out some more from Essence. The fact that the brand is so affordable is pretty dangerous because I can just see myself walking out of there with quite a few things.
What have you tried from Essence Cosmetics and what did you think?
