In my current quest to try out more Korean beauty products, Things of Beauty Boutique sent me the Etude House Styling Eye Liner to test out. Etude House is one of the more well known Korean Beauty brands, however I have only ever tried out one of their highlighters. I was also really keen to try out Things of Beauty Boutique, which is an NZ based online store that stocks makeup, jewellery and accessories.
The Etude House Styling Eye Liner is a jet black, wind up style crayon eye liner. As a product it is really lightweight and I like its sleek and simple design. I haven’t used crayon or pencil eye liners in a long time, ever since I mastered liquid I haven’t turned back. So it was a little bit to get used to at first. As with most pencils compared to liquid you have to push a little harder and also there isn’t ink to fill in little gaps. However, once I had a practice I was good to go.
I had forgotten how diverse a pencil liner can be, you can go thick or thin with harsh or soft lines. This Styling Eye Liner is particularly easy to smudge if you are wanting to go for a smokey look. Using this pencil saved me a lot of time as well, compared to having to be extra careful and using an eye shadow to line and then smoke out. I was impressed with how after quite a few uses the pencil still retained it’s bullet shaped end which makes it easier to create the exact kind of line you are after.
The Styling Eye Liner has some decent staying power. Every time I have used the liner it has lasted the entire day until I have chosen to remove it. Although I didn’t swim or anything like that while wearing it I would say that it’s waterproof as I needed some good micellar water to remove it.
Overall, if you like using pencil eye liners you will find this Etude House one easy to use and even if you are more used to liquid liners this is definitely still a handy makeup tool to own. It’s also super affordable at $10 NZD and I think it will last a really decent amount of time. It’s simple, sleek and exactly what you want in an eye liner. Although sometimes Korean beauty products can be a little difficult to find here in NZ, I have noticed that slowly more and more stores are catching on and stocking the bigger brands. Things of Beauty Boutique is one of those NZ stores which are catching on. I was really impressed with how fast my eye liner arrived and the way it was safety packed with bubble wrap. My parcel had a personalised touch which I always really like too. At the moment what Things of Beauty currently have in stock in regards to Korean beauty products is quite limited (there’s lots of other goodies available though including American makeup brands), however I know there are new products on their way and the best thing about the store is that as they grow they are open to ideas and requests on products.
