My Favourite Beauty Places to Shop in Auckland

makeup background

It’s no secret that I am quite a fan of heading out for a bit of shopping whenever the moment allows. Whether I am looking for something in particular or just having a browse, I love looking around the stores seeing what’s on sale and also testing and swatching products. And let’s be honest, there is always at least one or two things on my shopping want list! Shopping is something I really enjoy doing, even just window shopping with my best friend Melissa can set us in for a full afternoon of laughter and singing along to the stores radios. I often get a bit sick of shops in Auckland when comparing our malls and shopping districts to those overseas as each Westfield can start looking really similar. But it’s really not all that bad and there are some great beauty finds if you know where to look!

When I do start getting a bit over it all I go to a mall which is outside of my usual area for something a bit fresh (maybe it’s really a sign I should go shopping less?!) Today I have done a bit of a summary about my favourite places to shop in Auckland organised by area and have even thrown a few clothing and bits and bobs stores in there too. I’d love to know what your go-to mall is or what your most favourite place to shop around the world is!

Queen Street – Central Auckland

♥ Beauty Favourites: Lush, the two pharmacies (the one by Jb-Hi5 is a lot like an Australian chemist) and of course Smith and Caugheys. All the random Asian beauty stores in Atrium on Elliot (the best places to buy Missha!) If you go further up to K road you can find Lime Crime at Cosmic Corner too!

♥ Clothing and extras: Cotton on (there’s a huge new one being set up where Farmers use to be), Recycle Boutique, Wild pair, Typo, T2 and Footlocker.

St Lukes – St Lukes Road

♥ Beauty Favourites: Farmers, Kmart, The Body Shop, MAC and Shampoo ‘n’ Things.

♥ Clothing and extras: Blueberry, Valley Girl, Lovisa, Colette and Typo – lots of the stores especially Forever New are super tiny at St Lukes and there are bigger/better ones elsewhere.

Sylvia Park – Mt Wellington

♥ Beauty Favourites: None! I don’t find Sylvia Park a great destination if you are looking for just beauty and makeup products.

♥ Clothing and extras: Mirrou, Witchery, Rubi Shoes and Supre.

Albany Mall & Mega Centre – Albany

♥ Beauty Favourites: Farmers, Kmart, Postie Plus, The Warehouse (Albany warehouse has lots of beauty products and is always tidy) and the downstairs mall chemist – it stocks Real Techniques brushes and Tangle Teezers. real techniques brushes

♥ Clothing and extras: Cotton on (has girls, guys, shoes, accessories, body and kids all in one), Wild Pair, Forever New, Tempt, Bras & Things and Amazon.

And if you’re in the neighbourhood..

♥ Westgate – Makeup Direct: Has quite a nice range of brands that you don’t find in other stores around Auckand including names like Ardell and Bourjoius. They also have a big range of CND Vinylux nail polish which I am a bit of a fan of and a good sized hair care section. If you stop in definetly check out their Bomb Cosmetics range – the cutest bath bombs and accessorises ever! (There’s also a Makeup Direct in the city, near the Elliot Street car park by Globe Bar – but I prefer this store).

♥ New Lynn Mall – Studio Glam: This little gem has a huge range of Lime Crime products and lots of other fab harder to find in store brands like Bh Cosmetics and official Beauty Blenders. They also have an in-house makeup artist who you can book with for any kind of occasion. Whenever I go there I always find something I’ve never seen before which is really cool. studio glam ♥ MECCA Cosmetica: Of course I had to include MECCA, which you can find in Ponsonby or New Market. Although to be honest, I am much more likely to buy the products and brands they stock online, it’s always such a beautiful store to have a wander around in. And with their recent price drops it’s more affordable than ever to shop there.

If you are a fan of EOS lip balms or Bed, Bath & Bodyworks but don’t want to wait for shipping then this is the place for you.  Screen Shot 2014-10-18 at 3.40.35 pm

♥ Kryolan – New Market: This is a brand new store which stocks everything you could ever need for special effects makeup. Even if that’s not your thing no worries, its super cool to look around at all the stuff and theres ‘normal’ makeup there too!

I just know I have probably missed out a tonne of super good stores, so help me out and tell me where your favourite places to shop are!
