LA Girl Glazed Lip Paints Review

LA Girl lip paints

The LA Girl Glazed Lip Paints have started to suddenly pop up around the place. Actually in saying that, the brand LA Girl seems to have been becoming increasingly popular as of late. It’s a brand I’ve been aware of for a while but hadn’t thought much of. And I’ll be honest it was because of the products pricing – it seemed to cheap/too good to be true. However after hearing how much Australian YouTuber Lauren Curtis loves the brand and seeing Shaaanxo rave about their Pro Concealer, I decided it was time to give LA Girl a go. My first try of the brand was the much talked about concealer, and yes it has become one of my staples. However today is all about the Glazed Lip Paints.

I grabbed these on a bit of a whim at the Love My Makeup store in Downtown mall. I hadn’t seen these out in a store in NZ before and couldn’t pass by the super cheap price of $8 I left with ‘Peony’ and ‘Blushing’. It was pretty tricky to chose with 18 shades to chose from, to be honest I’m surprised that I didn’t leave with a few more.

The first thing I noticed with these lip paints is that they have a strong peppermint smell, which I really like but didn’t expect. On swatching I could see that they have a pretty glossy finish which I usually hate, have you noticed I never wear lip gloss? The thing that sold me on them was that they weren’t sticky or tacky so there was no worry of ending up with my hair stuck in my lipstick across my face. They are kind of a pigmented creme gloss, so that shiny element comes along with a strongly pigmented opaque colour which is something I don’t often come across with a gloss.

‘Blushing’ is a berry pink which is true to shade in one swipe. ‘Peony’ is a peachy pink which reminds me a little of 714 from Jeffree Star Cosmetics. It’s quite a light shade but again still achieves an opaque coverage on the lips. So far I have used ‘blushing’ pretty regularly as it is a super wearable colour. A slight downside with these is that they do settle in the cracks of your lips a little, so if your lips are dry these are not the best choice for you. The lighter ‘Peony’ seems to do that even more than the darker berry shade.
