Mecca Maxima is finally here in Auckland! Not only does it stock a whole tonne of brands which were hard to get hold of before, but the store is absolutely beautiful and the staff are friendly, helpful and not annoyingly pushy or in your face. My friends and I stopped by (and but stopped by I mean spent a decent hour and a bit here) during it’s opening weekend. We got there reasonably early in the day which meant we bet the crowds a little bit, however there was a line waiting to get in as we left.
I had obviously planned to spend a little cash here, I mean I have waiting for this store FOREVER, and walked out with a few goodies which had been on my wish list for awhile along with a couple of Mecca Max products. Mecca Max is a new line of cosmetics created by Mecca Maxima (think Sephora by Sephora), although I hadn’t planned to purchase any of the new range I was really impressed by the products and walked out with a few bits and bobs from them in my bag.
The first brand we checked out which was right up on my shopping list was Too Faced. Ever since getting the Natural Love Palette (click here for a full review) I have really fallen for the packaging and quality of their products. I picked up the classic Better Than Sex mascara and the Born This Way foundation after being colour matched. I was very, very close to also grabbing the Candlelight Glow highlighter but decided to save that for next time.
As we played with and swatched almost everything in the store I kept coming back to the Mecca Max area. I ended up purchasing the Skin Halo Diamond Dust in Rose Gold which is a beautiful bronze toned illuminating powder, a Double Vision eye shadow duo in Luxe Lingerie (because I totally don’t have enough nude shades already… haha) and the Foundation Fixer Liquid Foundation Brush. I have been a Beauty Blender convert for a long time now and have basically refused to use anything else, however this brush was just so soft and sturdy that I wanted to give it a try. I’ve been really impressed at how it doesn’t soak up half my product and also doesn’t leave me with streaky lines on my face like other brushes have.
Everything I bought during my first NZ Mecca trip has become part of my daily makeup routine so I am really pleased with what I chose and I’m getting a lot of use out of everything. My new Too Faced products are just as good as I expected them to be and I am pleasantly surprised by the quality and luxurious feel of the Mecca Max range. During my next trip I think I’ll have a look at adding to my current skincare routine as they have a huge range of popular skincare brands like Origin, GlamGlow and Mario Badescu. Also, did I mention that when you buy Mecca Max products you are given some free samples?! I got two super cute mini lipsticks which was a nice bonus!
So, if you are heading to Mecca Maxima in Auckland over the next few weekends you might just see me there! Make sure you check out their website before you head in to start planning your wish list!
