Nordstorm.com is a fabulous American website which sells a range of fashion and beauty products from a huge selection of designer and top end brands. I was first drawn to Nordstorm after deciding to do a bit of a MAC haul, but I also wanted to get a few other Clinique bits and bobs. The large range of make up brands means you can do a big shop all from one store, and with online shopping and shipping costs it makes so much more sense to do it all in one. Bonus – Nordstrom has no problems shipping to a postage forwarding service (aka YouShop) and you get to select free samples with your purchases, woo! Nordstorm is a great alternative store to Sephora, with all those issues we get trying to order from this side of the world =( And the prices are very reasonable, in fact I was blown over backwards with the Clinique prices compared to what we pay here.
Firstly, what I got!
- Pro Longwear Foundation NW15
- Cream Colour Base in Pearl
- Fix + spray
- Pro Longwear Concealer NW20
- Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Frozen Violet
- Lip pencil in Hip ‘N’ Happy
- Lipstick – Girl About Town
- Lipstick – Up the Amp
- Lipstick – Heroine
A couple of the purchases were things I had been craving and a few were restocks. I often rave about paint pots and was really keen to get a darker colour for the colder season – frozen violet does not disappoint in any aspects! Pro Longwear concealer is my go to, and I am so happy to see that it seems MAC may have changed the pump on it? The product seems to come out a lot slower now, rather than in a huge gloop that is enough product for two whole faces. I’ve been wanting to try out the Pro Longwear foundation for awhile, especially since I am only wearing foundation for big occasions and long nights out now. I wore it out on Friday night and I was really pleased with the coverage, but I found the texture a little difficult to get use to while I applied it. The rest of the MAC purchases were just pure indulgences – so happy to have my hands on that deep mysterious Heroine shade!
My Clinique products were both recommendations from Morgan at Hyacinth Girl Beauty. The Acne Solutions foundation contains 5% salicylic acid, and its nice to think that your make up could be treating your skin issues whilst covering them up. Purchasing the mascara was a bit of a risk for me as I have insanely sensitive eyes when it comes to mascara. Knowing that Clinique are famous for their hypo-allergenic and gentle products I decided to give it a go. It has passed the 12hr hand test, so the actual eye test is next.
Nordstrom carefully packaged each item and anything liquid based was also secured in a little zip lock bag. My only issue is that for a reason I am not aware of, they sent my MAC foundation separately. So I had to pay for two packages to be shipped through YouShop – and very strangely the one item package was more expensive than the box with multiple items and a much higher value. The free samples are a fun bonus, and I actually got more samples than I selected which was a cool surprise. I am now looking to branch out and am considering buying a prom (ball) dress from Nordstorm for an upcoming event, now that I know they are reliable, quick and careful with purchases.
All in all I am super happy with my Nordstorm experience, have you purchased through them before? If so, how did you find them?
