How to use MAC Fix+ Spray

MAC Fix+ Spray

There is a lot of misconceptions and confusion about how to use MAC Fix+ Spray and what it is actually for. Today I hope to clear up some of this confusion as well as share a few tips!

So first of all, what actually is MAC Fix+ Spray?

On Fix+ Spray is a part of the Prep + Prime collection and is described as “A lightweight water mist that gently soothes and refreshes skin and finishes makeup”. It is also said to give your skin a boost of hydration with a soft sheen. The ingredients are basically a bunch of different moisturisers, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory products ( I think this is where the confusion starts as MAC Fix+ isn’t really a primer and it also finishes makeup but doesn’t set it.

Wait… so it’s not a setting spray?

Not at all! This is the biggest misconception about MAC Fix+ Spray and this took me a while to figure out. It isn’t a setting spray and it won’t ‘set’ your makeup, it instead can add an effect to your makeup as well as refresh it.

Okay, so what’s the best way to use it?

The main intention of the spray is to be used as a finishing spray, meaning that you spritz your face once you have completed your look. The spray gets rid of any powdery look or feeling and leaves your skin feeling hydrated and soft. You can also use the spray like this later on in the day to freshen up your makeup if you’re having a long one! When you first spray your face you can see and feel a mist but this settles quickly, so if you want to use it to enhance a dewy finish you need to use it before applying your foundation (like a primer) and then using it again after you’ve finished your makeup.

I love using mine because it just feels really nice and fresh and it really makes a difference if I use it towards the end of the day. My makeup really freshens up and it helps it look good for awhile longer.

Other tips?

You can also use MAC Fix+ Spray to intensify powder products. If you dampen your makeup brush with Fix+ before using it to apply eye shadow or even highlighter then you’ll get a much stronger colour. It’s also just nice to spray onto your face during makeup free days because of it’s moisturising and soothing qualities.
