Washing my hair with lollies – New Lush Shampoo bars

shampoo bars I have always been intrigued by the idea of shampoo bars. After a lifetime of using the same kind of light coloured creamy liquid product to clean my hair I was keen to try out something new. The Lush Solid Shampoo Bars have a lot going for them. They are small and compact, self-preserving, without heavy and unnecessary packaging and come in a large range of types, scents and colours (just like lollies!) for every hair type. I’ll be honest here, it’s the range of bright colours and my favourite Lush scents that got me really excited. Also, did I mention that one bar can last you up to eighty washes?

The lovely people at Lush sent me a few Solid Shampoo Bars to try after hearing of my shampoo bar curiosity. I have been using the bright pink rose jam scented ‘Jason And The Argan Oil’ shampoo bar for about three weeks now, and I think you could say that things are getting pretty serious between Jason and I πŸ˜‰

At first I was a little lost, the product is a hard solid bar so, like, where does the foamy stuff come from? But I quickly worked it out. When you’re in the shower and it’s time to wash your hair all you do is grab the bar, hold it under the water for a second and the start to rub it gentle on your hair and scalp. When you’re at this point just stop for a moment and enjoy. Not only does the bar begin to produce a delicious smelling foaming goodness to clean your hair, but rubbing the bar on your head and scalp also feels like a professional head massage. In fact, I’d recommend allowing a little extra time in the shower because you won’t want to stop shampooing!

The product rinses out easily like any usual shampoo and then you can continue as normal with your conditioning routine. Stepping out of the shower my hair feels fresh, clean and smells amazing. As many of you know I have recently cut the number of times I wash my hair down to 3 to 4 times a week (see why here!). My Lush Solid Shampoo Bar along with my other hair care products is getting my hair through that extra bit of time and keeping it grease free.

‘Jason And The Argan Oil’ works great for me as it is for lighter coloured hair and works to strengthen as well as make hair softer and shinier. My boyfriend is currently using the ‘Montalbano’ Shampoo bar and here is his mini poetic review on it:

“The best things in life start in bars… alcohol fuelled conversation, dancing and live music. Oh the Lush Shampoo Bar… it feels so refreshing to wash away the shame of the night past. As the aromatics fill up the shower you are taken to another land”Β RealLifeAuckland.com

Have you ever tried out a shampoo bar before or a different kind of shampoo that’s a bit out of the ordinary?Β

  • These look really cute! It’s great that they do a great job as well as looking pretty! I will have to go get some. I find washing my hair such a chore!

    • They are super cute! And just like you say, they do a great job while looking pretty. It’s really fun to rub it over your hair and head and it feels really great!

  • I have tried a few lush shampoo bars but the ‘jason and the argon oil’ must be a new one! It sounds really nice.

    • I had never tried any kind of shampoo bar before, in fact I hadn’t tried anything apart from your very traditional liquid shampoo. I’m not sure I can ever go back now! ‘Jason and the Argon oil’ is a new one and I highly recommend it, I’m still using it now so it’s been about four weeks and I love it all the same. Plus, it has barely shrunk in size!
